I use my Marlin 60 with a 4X Weaver scope in raised scope rings so I can use open sights in case they're close. I have also used my Henry .22, 20 ga O/U Huglu, 20 ga Sears SXS (I sold it last year to fund my AK), my .22 Colt SAA Peacemaker and my S&W 22A .22

When I'm really after meat I use the shotgun, when I'm up for a challenge, I take a .22 rifle. I always take a .22 pistol for a really close shot, and a .45 for bigger predators both 2 and 4 legged.

I always liked the challenge of using my Winchester lever action model 150 with .22 shorts since they are quieter. Cheap Tasco scope on top did the trick. I always tried for head shots only, for the challenge.

Never got good enough to 'bark' 'em. Some of ya'll know what that is, I'm sure!!!

Perhaps you need to introduce some American gray squirrels like they have now in England, Dusty. I know Tranter likes to hunt them in his back yard.

I just realized that we never did get the recipe for bird-feeder pie from Tranter. What's up with that?

Oh thats what we have. Theres no grey squirrels west of the Shannon though. Red squirrels are protected here The grey boys run them out of there territory so they must be controlled.
Story has it that years and years ago a rich lord brought some grey squirrells over here and released them at his daughters wedding. They thrived and bred like rabbits after that. How true that is i dont know

Close to what I heard. I heard they were brought over and released as an exotic to enhance someone's garden.

Cant say I blame them, who knew what would happen? Its the pregnant frogs all over again...

Until the 1950s the only pregnancy test we had was frogs. They used to keep them in hospitals, and inject them with the womans urine. If the woman was pregnant, the frog would ovulate within hours! A lot of these frogs became sick, escaped and in some way spread the illness to other amphibians. This is now spreading across the world.
