I have been considering a new .22 rifle. It seems Ruger have brought out an AR version of I think the famed 10/22. I like the idea, being a flexible base and also a worthy trainer.
Anyone know anything about this rifle yet?

The 10/22 is a good gun, with plenty of after market bits to spend those hard earned pennies on Tranter. But a friend of mine purchased a "AR" clone 10/22, and it was'nt cheap, he's had nothing but problems with it, and the workmanship leaves a lot to be desired. I wont say where it came from, but their "Rimfire is not magic"

I have a 10/22 and it's a great plinker.
However, if I was in the market for one of the new breed of "tactical" .22s, I would take a close look at the S&W MP-22 or the Sig 522. |

Tranter etal;
Just a note and perhaps a word of caution. I think everyone knows by now that the Ruger family sold Ruger. I don't know if this has had any effect on their overall QC, but we have noticed an unusually high , (seemingly higher) incidence of problems with some of their newer entries. Especially feed and eject problems with their autos. As to your question specifically, I would wait and or find someone who has one of them to ask them specifically what if any problems they are encountering. We all know to expect some minor glitches with a new gun but some of the problems our gunsmith is encountering are more than minor glitches and are resulting in the gun going back to Ruger. I guess what I am saying is use caution right now with any of their newer models. The older, established models are bullet proof and never seem to have problems of any sort which is why they have such an ardent following. But their QC seems to be a little behind the power curve right now. So be careful. UF |

Thank you Uncle Fudd, your point is noted and caution applied.
